Christmas is here, celebrated all around the world…the 25th December has a very special meaning for a lot of people out there, and if it is celebrated in the fashion that it is meant to be celebrated, and it is remembered why we celebrate it then it has not been reduced into a special day where people eat and drink too much and use it as an excuse to spend too much money on gifts, trying to impress the recipient…after all it is not the cost of a gift, or the size that matters…it is the thought behind the gift, and a lot of people seem to forget that, which in a way is sad, as the true meaning of Christmas is forgotten among all the fancy wrapping paper, bows and ribbons.
My heart goes out to all those people who are alone today…people who maybe do not have anyone in their lives…their loved ones have moved on. People, who are homeless, sleep on the streets and beg for a living. Not all of them are there through choice, some of them have no option but to survive as best they can…spare a though for the lonely today.
There are people out there who have been hung out to dry by their families…the forgotten ones sitting in an old age home…a Mother or Father who is no longer important…I mean after all we have all got our own lives to live and we are more important than the people who brought us into this world with love and care. Think about how much that parent sacrificed as you grew up into a young adult…who stood up for you, who supported you…who loved you unconditionally, and now they fall into the forgotten category.
It does not have to be a parent…it could very easily be the other way around…a son or daughter that has displeased you in some way…not followed your every command so it is easier to just cut them out of your life and close the door on them. Come on…grow up…shove your ego where the sun does not shine and do something decent for a change…Pick up that phone…call your Mom, Dad, Son, Daughter and start building that bridge…it is never too late to say…”I love you”…Remember that family is the most important unit that you have…love and cherish them while you have them…once they are gone…it is too late to say…”I love you or I am sorry.” Use the true meaning of Christmas…Reach out.
Now that I am off my soap box, I would like to use this medium to wish all of you out there a very Happy Christmas and wish you all the best for the coming year…let’s hope that 2016 is going to be a wonderful year for all.
